Holton Lee visits

Over the summer holidays we found a place called Holton Lee and found that it had two hides and a nice walk around so decided that we would go for a bit of exploring. The first hide we found was what I call the garden hide where they have feeders out to feed the little birds which was amazing place for photos and bird life and deer's. The birds you can see from the garden hide include: Siskin, Great spotted woodpecker, Robin, Stock doves, Greenfinch and goldfinch. There is also plenty of Grey squirrels running around as well as the occasional rabbit and almost guaranteed a deer right at the back.

We then decided in the second visit to explore the other hide which looked out over a scrape which is very quiet bird wise but is a peaceful place to sit and we normally see something. The birds that could be seen from this hide is: Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, Pied Wagtails, Little Egret, Lapwing and Black Tailed Godwits. As well as the occasional deer on the scrape.

On a walk around the heath it is quiet bird wise but there is a pond which is always worth a look. There is normally some sundew around and Raft Spiders on the water and a few dragonflies.
